Position Description:
As a Paralegal in our organization, you will play a crucial role in supporting our legal operations, particularly in matters related to healthcare technology, data privacy, regulatory compliance, and contract management. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of law and cutting-edge technology, contributing to the advancement of innovative healthcare solutions.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience working as a paralegal
- Associate's degree in paralegal studies or certificate of completion from an ABA-accredited paralegal program of education and training
- Experience managing medium to large-scale document and dataset productions
- Proficiency using virtual data rooms to upload and organize documents
- Familiarity with privacy laws and regulations such as CPRA, CCPA/CPRA, MHMDA, and other state privacy laws; GDPR; and HIPAA/HITECH
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures, specifically within the healthcare industry
- Proficiency in legal research methods and resources
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment when performing job duties.
- Aptitude for displaying a high degree of ethics, integrity, professionalism, and respect
Responsibilities:
- Assist with responses to third party warrants and subpoenas – including review for scope, data extraction and production
- Draft and review contracts and other legal documents, including vendor service agreements, customer terms of service, and business associate agreements
- Draft and maintain corporate privacy-related notices, policies, procedures, guidelines, tools, templates, and other process documentation, ensuring content is kept up to date and relevant in conjunction with the TherapyNotes compliance team
- Perform the legal and factual research necessary to draft and analyze various contracts, policies, and other documents to advise internal clients
- Work with Data Privacy Attorney to proactively identify and evaluate changes in the law and implementing regulations that may impact the organization and provide guidance on such changes
- Assist Data Privacy Attorney with tracking and advising TherapyNotes on pending legislation affecting privacy and technology and assist with advice regarding expected impacts
- Partner with internal business units such as IT and Product to identify and remediate privacy and other technology risks
- Perform ongoing legal and administrative tasks, with minimal direction and guidance, and collaborate with members of all departments on various projects
