As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you will serve as the bridge between customers and engineering teams, helping enterprises adopt and scale AI solutions. You will work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand problems, design solutions, and rapidly deliver high-impact AI applications on Google Cloud.

This role combines software engineering, solution architecture, customer engagement, and AI innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with enterprise customers to understand business challenges and identify AI opportunities.
  • Design, develop, and deploy AI-powered applications using Google Cloud and Generative AI technologies.
  • Build solutions using LLMs, RAG, AI agents, APIs, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Develop scalable backend services, integrations, and cloud-native applications.
  • Lead technical workshops, architecture discussions, and solution design sessions with customers.
  • Rapidly prototype, test, and iterate on AI use cases to drive business value.
  • Collaborate with product managers, data scientists, and engineering teams to deliver production-ready solutions.
  • Ensure solutions meet standards for scalability, security, reliability, and performance.
  • Support customer deployments and serve as a trusted technical advisor throughout project delivery.
  • Stay current with emerging AI and cloud technologies and help drive innovation across the organization.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–4 years of experience in software engineering, solutions engineering, machine learning, or technical consulting.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, Next JS, Go, JavaScript, or similar languages.
  • Experience building applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Knowledge of cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with Generative AI technologies, including LLMs, RAG, vector databases, AI agents, and prompt engineering.
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud services such as Vertex AI, BigQuery, Cloud Run, GKE, and related technologies.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in fast-paced, customer-facing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering enterprise AI, analytics, automation, or digital transformation solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with Gemini, OpenAI, Claude, LangChain, LangGraph, or similar AI frameworks.
  • Exposure to solution architecture, technical consulting, or customer-facing engineering roles.
  • MBA from a leading institution or experience working closely with business stakeholders is a plus.

Sutherland is seeking a highly talented Forward Deployed Engineer to join our AI and Digital Engineering team. In this role, you will work directly with global enterprise customers to design, build, and deploy AI-powered solutions on Google Cloud that solve real business challenges and create measurable impact.

You will collaborate with customers, product teams, architects, and engineers to turn innovative ideas into production-ready applications leveraging Generative AI, cloud technologies, and modern software engineering practices.
