JOB SUMMARY

The SBA Portfolio Manager is responsible for effectively managing a designated portfolio of loans and maintaining consistent contact and strong relationships with existing loan customers. The SBA Portfolio Manager must (1) diligently service customer requests through assessment of relevant fact, applicable regulation and internal procedures; (2) collect, review and understand borrower financial records and other similar records, including insurance and title reports; (3) assess and draft internal credit memoranda; and (4) evaluate the loan file for completeness on a routine basis.

SBA Portfolio Managers must proactively monitor their assigned portfolio of loans to ensure credit risks are timely identified and addressed and, if necessary, corrective action is taken and documented in the loan file. This will include, for example, timely review of financial records and adjustment to risk rating or accrual status of a loan, as necessary. SBA Portfolio Managers must perform critical job duties consistent with the Small Business Administration’s Standard Operating Procedures, Bank Loan Policy and department procedures.

Starting annual salary of $50,000.00. Employment offers will be dependent upon the selected candidate’s relevant qualifications and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proactively manage a designated portfolio of existing loans to ensure credit quality, soundness of risk rating, and adherence to Bank Loan Policy.
  • Complete and document a defined number of loan reviews, which includes a preliminary evaluation of financial records, examination of collateral documentation and other similar tasks, for loans classified in regular servicing status.
  • Prepare material change forms, file comments or other credit memoranda, as applicable, to document material changes to the loan or credit file since approval.
  • Assist the Bank’s credit department to complete loan presentations to the Chief Credit Officer or Officer Loan Committee.
  • Present material changes to an existing loan or loan approval to the Chief Credit Officer or Officer Loan Committee, as necessary.
  • Timely respond to customer inquiries and service those requests consistent with the Small Business Administrations’ Standard Operating Procedures, Bank Loan Policy and department policies.
  • Review daily reports of delinquent loans and take affirmative action to collect payments on past-due accounts and/or prepare and send notices of default.
  • Document customer communications, both written and verbal, in designated Bank record-keeping platforms.
  • Conduct reviews of existing loan arrangements for compliance and exception monitoring known as “quality control reviews.”
  • Monitor, review and address delinquent real estate taxes, assessments or other similar financial covenants as set forth in the applicable loan documents.
  • Understand and supervise insurance requirements associated with the loan and, as necessary, assess whether force-placed insurance is appropriate.
  • Assist bank management with special projects or lead business development initiatives, as needed, to further primary Bank goals and objectives.
  • Loss prevention and security as applicable for this position.
  • Performs related work as required.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of all legal and regulatory compliance issues as they pertain to this position.
  • Completes training as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time, twist, bend, sit, walk use hands to twist, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, such as computer mouse, computer keyboard, calculator, stapler, telephone, staple puller, etc., reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university; and/or 2 to 3 years related banking experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical skills including the ability to read and assess individual and company financial statements, cash flow, industry, competition, and projections.
  • Strong knowledge of basic banking products, commercial lending products and ability to match solutions with the borrowers.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with minimal direction.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Flexible.
