About Sparx Learning
In 2010, our founder Mark Dixon made it his mission to make a difference to learning outcomes after a conversation at the school gate with another parent. He started with a subject close to his heart - Mathematics - and spent eight years researching and developing in schools before launching Sparx Maths to all schools in 2018. The company evolved further in 2019 when Sparx joined forces with HegartyMaths, founded by Colin Hegarty, combining their expertise to support even more schools and students across the UK.
Today, Sparx Learning is on a mission to improve lives and the world through learning, working with over 2,600 schools, 60,000 teachers, and 2.4 million students worldwide. We create carefully researched systems designed to maximise impact in each discipline, including Sparx Maths for personalised homework, Sparx Reader for building confident readers, and Sparx Science for improving scientific knowledge. In 2023, Colin Hegarty became CEO, and in 2025 we proudly became a certified B Corporation, reflecting our commitment to being a genuine force for good in education.
