The story of SIAA (Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance) began not in a boardroom, but with a vision to empower the independent insurance agent. In 1983, Jim Masiello, an experienced agency owner in Keene, New Hampshire, faced the challenges that many small agencies still encounter today: the struggle to grow and access competitive markets. Determined to overcome these hurdles, he founded the Satellite Agency Network (SAN) Group. This innovative model allowed smaller agencies to band together, leveraging their collective strength to gain access to top-tier insurance carriers and higher commissions, all while maintaining their independence.

The success of the SAN Group in New England was undeniable, proving that the alliance model could revitalize the independent agency channel. Recognizing the potential to replicate this success on a national scale, the Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance (SIAA) was established in 1995. What started as a regional solution evolved into a nationwide movement, creating a network of Master Agencies that now covers all 50 states. Today, SIAA stands as the largest alliance of independent insurance agencies in the country, signing thousands of members and generating billions in written premium.

Under the leadership of CEO Matt Masiello, SIAA continues to innovate, providing its members with cutting-edge technology, such as the SIAA NXT platform, and comprehensive training programs. The company's journey from a single idea in New Hampshire to a national powerhouse is a testament to its enduring commitment to the creation, retention, and growth of the independent insurance agency distribution system.
