Schoolhouse World

We are Schoolhouse.world, a non-profit organization with a clear and ambitious mission: to connect the world through learning. Our journey began in 2020, born out of the urgent need for accessible and personal educational support during the global pandemic. Founded by Sal Khan, the visionary behind Khan Academy, in partnership with his college friend Shishir Mehrotra, the co-founder and CEO of Coda, we set out to create a platform that would provide free, high-quality, peer-to-peer tutoring to anyone, anywhere. We believe in the transformative power of human connection in education. Our platform is built on the simple yet profound idea that learning from a peer can be an incredibly empowering and effective experience. We facilitate live, small-group tutoring sessions over Zoom, creating a safe and supportive environment where learners can ask questions, build confidence, and master new concepts.

Our community is the heart of everything we do. We are a global family of thousands of volunteer tutors and learners from over 180 countries. These dedicated tutors, many of whom are high school and college students themselves, are the driving force behind our mission. They are not just sharing their knowledge; they are building a portfolio of experience that is recognized by leading universities. We are a small but mighty remote team of passionate individuals, working across borders to build and scale this platform. We thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment, constantly exploring new ways to enhance the learning experience. From our initial pilot on the Coda platform to our current feature-rich website, we are always iterating and growing. We are not just a tutoring service; we are a community dedicated to fostering a love for learning and creating opportunities for personal and academic growth for everyone involved.
