The Cloud Core team is one of the Cloud Infrastructure teams that enable Slack's engineers to build and run services in the cloud in a safe, simple, and reliable manner. Slack's infrastructure is always evolving to support our fast-growing business. We are a team of systems and software engineers globally distributed between Australia, the US and Canada. We manage our worldwide AWS cloud ecosystem and drive the adoption of new cloud technologies at Slack. We provide the foundational network, account and identity access and infrastructure-as-code platforms for our engineers to deploy services in Slack's ecosystem and work closely with AWS to enable Slack's operations at scale. We develop tools and services that make it easier for product teams to operate their services and in the most cost efficient manner. Your Impact:
  • Drive the execution and delivery of features by collaborating with many multi-functional teams, architects, product owners and engineers
  • Drive the roadmap, strategic direction and priorities for the team, and collaborate with other engineering teams across the company, to stay ahead of stakeholder’s ask through-out the breadth of the broader pillar.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and planning
  • Participate in multi-functional coordination, planning, and reviews with leads from other engineering teams
  • Guide the team in achieving a high level of engineering and operational excellence and stability
  • Make critical decisions that contribute to the success of the product
  • Develop engineers on the team, helping them advance in their careers while also fostering a collaborative and high performance team culture
  • Be a multiplier and have a passion for team and team members’ success
  • Maintain and foster our culture by interviewing and hiring only the most qualified individuals
Required Skills:
  • A related technical degree required
  • 2+ years of cloud development or management experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of Linux performance, security, cloud, AWS IAM and Networking and Distributed Systems
  • Experience running highly efficient teams with empathy
  • Operational experience to deal with high profile and complex operational incidents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible, proactive, comfortable working with minimal specifications
  • Experience in hiring, mentoring and leading engineers
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and product management to understand requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $138,000 to $189,800.Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
