Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Podcast Editor to take ownership of audio and video editing for every episode of our podcast. Editing is the heart of this role. Beyond editing, you will support pre-production planning, assist with guest coordination, and handle publishing and distribution to podcast platforms. You will also use AI tools to streamline the content workflow and support the host with episode ideation.
The ideal candidate is an experienced podcast editor first — someone who knows how to make a conversation sound clean, engaging, and professional. You also understand the full podcast lifecycle well enough to support launch, platform submission, and ongoing publishing. You are familiar with Riverside.fm or a similar recording platform, and you know what Apple Podcasts requires from submission to ongoing episode management.
Key Responsibilities
Audio & Video Editing
This is the core of the role. Every episode runs through you before it reaches the audience.
- Edit full-length podcast episodes for audio quality — removing filler words, awkward pauses, background noise, and technical glitches
- Edit video versions of episodes for YouTube and social media in professional video editing software
- Add intro and outro music, branded elements, chapter markers, and any other standard episode formatting
- Create short-form video clips and audiograms from each episode for social media promotion
- Deliver clean, polished files on time and ready for publication
Pre-Production & Episode Planning
- Collaborate with the host to develop episode topics, series themes, and content direction aligned with the podcast's audience of moms
- Use AI tools to research episode ideas, trending topics in the mom and parenting space, and generate episode outlines and talking points
- Maintain a content calendar and episode pipeline to ensure consistent publishing cadence
- Prepare detailed interview question guides tailored to each guest's background, expertise, and story
Guest Coordination & Outreach
- Work through the host's list of potential guests and prioritize based on relevance, availability, and audience fit
- Reach out to potential guests professionally to introduce the podcast, pitch the opportunity, and coordinate scheduling
- Manage all guest communication from initial outreach through recording day — confirmations, logistics, technical prep, and follow-up
- Brief guests before recording with what to expect, technical setup guidance, and talking points
Recording & Production Management
- Facilitate recording sessions using Riverside.fm or a comparable remote recording platform
- Ensure audio and video quality is strong on both ends before and during recording
- Manage the technical side of the recording session so the host can focus entirely on the conversation
- Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and calmly during live recording sessions
Audio & Video Editing
- Edit full-length podcast episodes for audio quality — removing filler words, awkward pauses, background noise, and technical glitches
- Edit video versions of episodes for YouTube and social media in professional video editing software
- Add intro and outro music, branded elements, chapter markers, and any other standard episode formatting
- Create short-form video clips and audiograms from each episode for social media promotion
- Deliver clean, polished files on time and ready for publication
Podcast Launch & Platform Distribution
- Lead the technical setup and launch of the podcast — including RSS feed configuration, show artwork, episode descriptions, and category selection
- Submit the podcast to Apple Podcasts and additional platforms including Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, and iHeartRadio
- Manage ongoing episode uploads and publishing across all platforms after launch
- Ensure all episode metadata — titles, descriptions, tags, and show notes — is optimized for discoverability
- Monitor platform analytics and provide the host with regular performance updates on downloads, listeners, and episode reach
Show Notes & Content Writing
- Write compelling show notes for each episode that summarize key takeaways, include guest bios, and link to relevant resources
- Use AI tools to assist with drafting and refining show notes, episode titles, and social media captions
- Ensure all written content reflects the voice and tone of the podcast and its audience
AI-Assisted Workflow
- Actively use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Descript, or similar to improve speed and quality across the production workflow
- Use AI to generate episode ideas, draft interview questions, create social captions, repurpose content, and streamline repetitive tasks
- Stay current on AI tools relevant to podcast production and bring new efficiencies to the team
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience producing and launching podcasts end-to-end — a portfolio of published episodes or shows is required for consideration
- Proficiency with Riverside.fm or a comparable remote recording platform such as Squadcast, Zencastr, or Streamyard
- Hands-on experience submitting podcasts to Apple Podcasts and other major directories
- Strong audio editing skills — you know how to make a conversation sound clean, professional, and engaging
- Video editing experience for podcast video content and social media clips
- Experience writing show notes and episode descriptions that are clear, engaging, and SEO-friendly
- Comfortable using AI tools in a creative and practical production workflow
- Strong written communication skills for guest outreach and ongoing correspondence
- Organized and reliable — you manage timelines, meet deadlines, and keep the content calendar on track
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience producing a podcast in the lifestyle, parenting, wellness, or women-focused content space
- Familiarity with podcast hosting platforms such as Buzzsprout, Podbean, Anchor, or Transistor
- Experience with Descript for audio and video editing
- Basic graphic design skills for episode artwork, social tiles, and audiogram creation using Canva or similar
- Background supporting a content creator, influencer, or personal brand
- Understanding of podcast SEO and discoverability best practices
