How it all started

Jett McCandless, project44’s Founder and CEO, has seen the problems in the logistics and delivery space firsthand over the past 25+ years. At each company and in every customer interaction, he knew the right technology could transform an industry that moves nearly $16.4 trillion worth of cargo every year in the U.S. alone. These interactions inspired him to launch project44.

Why the name “project44”? It actually has to do with Route 66, the iconic American highway rooted in Chicago, our hometown. What many don’t know is that a few decades after opening, Route 66 could no longer serve the the growing demand and in 1953, Highway 44 opened as Rte. 66’s first major bypass. This ambitious new transportation infrastructure connected a growing nation and supply chain. It’s the perfect project to serve as our namesake.
