About this Position
The Software Testing Analyst is responsible for testing and verification of software solutions in the Licensing and Pre-licensing Departments at Primerica. The ideal candidate is technical and has a proven commitment to quality with a solid understanding of testing concepts, practices and procedures.As a Manual Tester, your primary responsibility will be to build effective test plans and test cases to explore and validate the functional correctness of our applications.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Software verification of software applications in all phases of development life cycle including planning, inputs, design, implementation, and testing.
- Actively participate and contribute to ensure project test plans, scenarios, and data satisfy the project requirements as well as organizational quality standards.
- Learn and analyze system specifications/requirements.
- Write and execute manual system level test cases and procedures and analyze the results.
- Report defects and work with analyst, Product Owner and developers to resolve them.
- Perform debugging and root cause analysis of product issues or defects.
- Provide input and estimates to project planning activities and timely and accurate status reporting risks, and issues to project stakeholders.
- Provide continuous risk assessment and timely escalation of software quality concerns.
- Support department inquiries and maintenance tables.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to provide regular and frequent status updates and project information to management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate technical issues to testers, developers and product owners
- Quick grasp of technical information and requirements.
- Sound business related skills such as problem solving, team building, judgment and decisions making.
- Excellent planning and organization skills, with a commitment to delivering on aggressive deadline
- Ability to work concurrently on several projects, each with specific instructions that may differ from project to project.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
- Expertise in analyzing, troubleshooting and resolving complex issues.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Technical Trade or business school in project management, technology, or equivalent discipline required
- At least 2 years’ experience overall in quality assurance testing
- Experience in estimating, prioritizing, planning and coordinating testing activities.
- Strong hands-on test case and test protocol writing skills.
- Thorough understanding of testing methodologies including smoke testing and regression testing.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills to help isolate the cause of a defect.
- Knowledge of Jira, TestRail or their equivalents.
- Experience using SQL
- Experience with multiple platforms (Windows, DB2, SQL Server)
- Experience testing multi-tiered web-based systems.
- Knowledge of Agile Application Development and Scrum methodologies.
