Role Summary
The Senior Director, Strategy & Business Operations for the US Primary Care Customer Engagement Platform (CEP) is a newly elevated enterprise role created to meet the complexity and strategic demands of the largest and most commercially significant organization in Pfizer's US business. This position integrates and elevates the core responsibilities of two previously separate roles — USPC Head of Operations and USPC Head of Enablement — into a single, senior strategic function with expanded scope and precedent-setting enterprise accountability.
Reporting directly to the SVP and US Primary Care CEP Lead, this leader serves as the chief strategic thought partner to USPC customer-facing senior leadership, driving commercial excellence across the full PC United portfolio — spanning Vaccines, Cardiovascular Metabolic, Migraine, and Anti-Viral. The role supports a ~2,100-colleague, $15B+ revenue organization and is accountable for enterprise-level strategy, operating model governance, field force effectiveness, CSO sales leadership engagement, digital and AI-enabled transformation, and performance management across the evolving Primary Care business.
This is not a coordination or support role. It is an enterprise strategy and operations leadership position that requires exceptional influence leadership — operating without direct authority across Internal Medicine and Account Management ops and enablement teams, aligning two distinct business units (Vaccines and Internal Medicine) toward a unified strategic vision and execution path for PC United.
Success in This Role Will Be Defined By
Measurable improvements in customer-facing execution across the full USPC commercial engine
A disciplined, enterprise-wide CEP operating model and integrated planning cadence that drives aligned decision-making
Decision-ready insights that enable prioritization, trade-off clarity, and timely investment decisions at the SVP level and above
Demonstrable gains in field force effectiveness across targeting, deployment, reach, and frequency
Accelerated adoption of digital, AI-enabled, and platform-based customer engagement capabilities at scale
CSO partner performance, governance, and strategic alignment meeting or exceeding revenue commitments
Key Responsibilities
1. Enterprise Strategy, Insights & Decision Support
Serve as the primary strategic advisor to USPC leadership, synthesizing field intelligence, customer insights, performance data, and financial signals into clear priorities and growth bets
Develop executive-level recommendations that sharpen trade-off decisions and enable timely, confident investment and resourcing choices
Facilitate and lead senior-level strategy sessions, ensuring alignment, accountability, and follow-through on outcomes, actions, and owners
Translate ambiguous, high-complexity business challenges into structured analytical frameworks and actionable paths forward
2. Operating Model, Governance & Integrated Planning
Design, build, and implement the CEP operating model — including governance structures, decision rights, executive forums, and a disciplined integrated planning cadence across PC United
Partner with Finance and functional leaders on resource planning, scenario modeling, prioritization, and financial planning cycles
Lead CSO strategy and execution across PC United; serve as primary liaison to Inizio to ensure performance accountability, governance rigor, and strategic priority alignment
Drive execution of business-critical initiatives by identifying and removing barriers, accelerating momentum, and ensuring cross-functional coordination
3. Customer Engagement & Field Force Effectiveness
Set and continuously refine the field effectiveness strategy for USPC — including targeting, deployment optimization, reach/frequency frameworks, and resource trade-offs across Primary Care businesses
Define and evolve key performance metrics and AI-enabled insights to guide Sales and Marketing decision-making at scale
Translate engagement activity and platform utilization data into actionable optimization insights that improve commercial outcomes
Evolve in-person, digital, and hybrid engagement models to increase customer impact, operational efficiency, and field experience quality
Partner with GCET (Training) to ensure capability building and role readiness are aligned to evolving field strategies across PC United
4. Analytics, Performance Management & Optimization
Lead enterprise performance management across financial, operational, and execution metrics — surfacing actionable insights that inform leadership decision-making
Quantify opportunities, risks, and trade-offs to guide ROI improvement and investment prioritization decisions
Continuously strengthen CEP analytics infrastructure, reporting capabilities, and decision-support tools
5. Innovation, Digital Enablement & Change Leadership
Lead enterprise-scale change initiatives across PC United that advance digital, AI-enabled, and platform-based customer engagement capabilities
Partner with Digital, CRM, Data, and Training teams to modernize tools, streamline workflows, and drive adoption at scale
Champion new ways of working that simplify execution for field teams and increase commercial impact across both PC United businesses
Define success metrics for all change initiatives and rigorously track adoption, execution lift, and simplification outcomes
6. Enterprise Leadership & Cross-Functional Influence
Act as the central connector and integrator across PC United and enabling partners — aligning internal priorities and driving enterprise thinking across two distinct businesses (Vaccines and Internal Medicine)
Demonstrate exceptional influence leadership across Internal Medicine and Account Management ops and enablement teams to align on a unified strategic vision and execution path
Influence senior stakeholders across a highly matrixed organization through strong executive presence, clarity of thought, and the ability to drive alignment without direct authority
Model values-driven leadership with unwavering commitment to compliance, integrity, and operational excellence
Qualifications
Required
BA/BS degree required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) strongly preferred
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, consulting, or related commercial roles
Deep experience in commercial strategy, analytics, field operations, and customer-facing effectiveness in a large, complex organization
Proven success leading enterprise-scale, cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced, matrixed environments — including across multiple distinct business units
Exceptional strategic thinking, analytical problem-solving, and business acumen; ability to synthesize complexity into decisive recommendations
Executive-level communication, presentation, and influencing skills; demonstrated ability to align senior stakeholders without direct authority
Strong project management, prioritization, and organizational discipline across multiple concurrent high-stakes workstreams

Prior experience with Alliance or CSO partner oversight, governance, and performance management
Familiarity with Vaccines and/or Internal Medicine commercial operations within Pfizer's US business
Organizational Context
US Primary Care (PC United) is the largest and most complex commercial organization in Pfizer's US business, generating over $15 billion in revenue in 2025 across two distinct business units — Vaccines and Internal Medicine — which encompass multiple therapeutic areas including Cardiovascular Metabolic, Migraine, and Anti-Viral. With approximately 2,100 colleagues and a field force serving as Pfizer's primary commercial interface to healthcare providers, PC United is Pfizer's single most valuable commercial asset in the US market.
The Senior Director, Strategy & Business Operations is the operational and strategic backbone of this organization — enabling the SVP CEP Lead to move at the speed of the business, make confident decisions with quality intelligence, and hold the enterprise accountable for execution against revenue commitments. The scope, complexity, and enterprise impact of this role are consistent with a Grade 18 position and exceed the combined accountability of the two predecessor roles it replaces.
