At UpDoc, we are building the first clinically validated, physician-supervised conversational AI assistant that manages chronic diseases. We are seeking a talented and motivated backend engineer to join our small team. You will be responsible for the design and development of UpDoc’s backend infrastructure that powers our Healthcare AI platform. This is a fully-remote position.
What You'll Do
In true startup fashion, this position will include a wide variety of duties and responsibilities. Your primary focus will be developing and maintaining our cloud infrastructure. You will build scalable APIs and microservices, implement CI/CD pipelines, develop security and compliance procedures, monitor and optimize backend system performance, and maintain thorough documentation. You will also help integrate our platform with the EHRs of our first health system partners. As one of the first employees at UpDoc, you will work closely with a small team to make critical decisions regarding system architecture, tech stack, and technical hires. Your insights will directly influence our strategic direction and operational efficiency.
What You’ll Need
5+ years of experience with Python, including strong knowledge of FastAPI and Pydantic
3+ years of experience with Azure or GCP
3+ years of experience developing microservices
Strong proficiency in database design and implementation
Strong proficiency in containerization technologies (e.g., Docker)
A solid understanding of logging, monitoring, and CI/CD through GitHub Actions
Highly Desired
Experience with healthcare industry standards and regulations, including HIPAA, SOC 2, and HITRUST
Experience with healthcare data standards such as HL7 FHIR and integration with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic via FHIR APIs
Experience with IoT device management is a plus
Experience with LLMs and vector databases is a plus
