In the early 1990s, Jenny Just and Matt Hulsizer worked at O'Connor and Associates, a prominent trading firm in Chicago. When the company decided to move operations to the East Coast, the two co-founders faced a choice: relocate or forge their own path. They chose the latter, founding PEAK6 in 1997 with $1.5 million in seed capital. Starting as a proprietary equity options trading firm, they developed one of the first tech-based solutions to optimize options trading, setting the foundation for what would become a multibillion-dollar financial services and technology giant.

Today, PEAK6 has evolved far beyond its trading roots. The company's defining moment came in 2012 when they acquired what would become Apex Fintech Solutions from Penson Financial Services, saving their OptionsHouse business in the process. This pivot transformed PEAK6 into a technology company that enables disruptors across industries. With headquarters now in Austin, Texas, and roots at the Chicago Board of Trade, PEAK6 operates eight diverse companies spanning fintech, insurance, education, and esports.
