Job Description Summary:

PayPal seeks an experienced business-savvy, data driven, action-oriented individual to join our Global Sales Compensation team. The Sales Compensation Operations and Governance Manager role is a unique opportunity that calls for a skilled, hands-on, analytical leader who will lead the team supporting the ongoing administration, operations, and data governance of our global sales compensation plans. This role is part program manager, and part operational expert.

The right candidate will possess a strong operational management background and have experience leading medium to large programs and projects and excel at written and verbal communications. This person must be able to drive operational excellence and influence change where needed. A background in sales operations or with automated calculations will be significant plus. This role reports to the Director, Global Sales Compensation and will lead a team with future growth potential in line with delivered value.

Job Description:

Responsibilities

  • This leader will be the designated owner of sales compensation administration of several large plans across the enterprise
  • Oversee the administrative team that performs monthly, quarterly, and annual calculations for sales compensation including recruiting, training, development, and performance management
  • Ownership of administration processes in line with sales compensation framework, best practices, and PayPal standards
  • Provide strategic direction and tactical consultation while exercising a high degree of autonomy in planning and executing on major initiatives
  • Manage, support, and analyze incentive compensation plans for our global sales organization that align with established financial and sales models
  • Be a change leader to dramatically improve the effectiveness of our sales compensation program through process improvements based on data driven analysis with quality output and resource usage across the operations team
  • Validate and monitor payments of incentive compensation plan components and commissions
  • Establish rigorous systems change management processes based on data acquisition, data needs, and data requirements
  • Discovery and resolution management in a way that will minimize/eliminate manual processes and reduce redundancy during the plan payout and administration process
  • Develop, document (process mapping), and communicate systems processes, procedures, and data requirements to ensure organizational and partner understanding, as well as compliance with regulatory and legal requirements (including those elements critical to the reporting and tracking of sales compensation metrics, development of new tools, ability to gather and track data, execute on reporting needs and dashboards, ad hoc data analysis and issue resolution)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or 6-8 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
  • Experience in managing remote teams with diverse level of expertise
  • 5 years’ experience developing, implementing, or administering compensation programs and systems
  • Experience establishing business and IT requirements, managing implementations, and developing effective quality controls in an end-to-end operational environment that includes end-user training and communications
  • Familiar with SPM market trends and the execution of effective processes to support compensation strategies in an SPM, as well as experience with SPM configuration, including workflows, validation rules, calculations and security controls
  • Experience defining business and IT requirements, writing user stories, and providing detailed SPM functional designs
  • Experience in documenting current state business processes and system designs as well as making recommendations for future state improved processes and system designs
  • Experience as the business owner of at least one major sales compensation tool such as Xactly, NICE, Callidus, Optymyze, or others
  • Ability to utilize the following platforms: Salesforce, Xactly, Callidus (or similar sales compensation tool), Tableau, MS Office Products
  • Experience with software implementation projects, including software development lifecycle, change management, requirements and testing documentation, and associated responsibilities
  • Expert ability in PowerPoint and Excel and prior experience with data analysis, including the ability to develop and create dynamic tools for modeling and analyzing data
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and financial management & modeling experience and excellent verbal, analytical and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Initiative-taker with exemplary organization skills - must possess ‘can do’ attitude and the ability to multi-task and work in a global, matrixed, dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated experience of successfully executing against tight deadlines, able to skillfully prioritize and manage concurrent projects and issues with a collaboration mind-set
