About the Role:

The Director of Operational Risk Oversight will assist Pathward’s Executive Management and Chief Risk Officer by building an operational risk oversight program consistent with Basel II expectations. This role will partner with, and also provide credible challenge to, the first line of defense. This role roll will assess risk management strategies and complete internal risk assessment conclusions for operational risks. This position is strategic in its providing assurance to the Board of Directors, Executive Management, regulators, and all stakeholders on compliance with the governing policies.

What You Will Do:

  • Building a Basel II operational risk compliant framework.
  • Participate in risk scenario analysis planning and development.
  • Report to executive management on risk scenario analysis conclusions through existing risk committee structure.
  • Work with IS and PMO Department on project or capital expenditure related losses.
  • Work with various cross-functional team to determine operational vulnerabilities.
  • Partner with Enterprise Risk Management on tracking and analyzing other loss and near-loss events.
  • Develop a comprehensive loss event monitoring framework.
  • Partner with the Treasury team during capital modeling processes.
  • Partner with Disaster Recovery team to determine tolerances for disruption and resilience capabilities.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of capital planning processes.
  • Evaluate internal and external fraud reporting and trends.
  • Evaluation risk and control inventories.
  • Monitor key risk, performance, and control indicators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:

  • Strong understanding of Basel requirements
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Working understanding of banking and finance
  • Working understanding of operational risk management strategies
  • Working knowledge of quality control concepts and risk management
  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures development and oversight
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required
  • 8+ years of banking or similar experience
  • 3+ years of experience with operational risk management
  • Prior experience in dealing with regulatory agencies and/or audit firms
  • Prior experience with Archer platform, preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, business, or mathematics required
  • MBA Degree, preferred

Salary range: $119,402.29 – $220,517.17

The salary range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this role. Individual pay within the range will be determined by multiple factors which can include but are not limited to a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skills, and location. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary for your location during the hiring process. Ranges may be modified in the future.
