We are Pathward, a U.S.-based financial empowerment company driven by our purpose to power financial inclusion for all. We strive to increase financial availability, choice, and opportunity across our Banking as a Service and Commercial Finance business lines. Our journey began in 1954 as the Storm Lake Savings and Loan Association in Iowa, founded by Stanley H. Haahr. Over the decades, we've evolved significantly, transitioning from a traditional community bank to a dynamic fintech powerhouse, all while maintaining our headquarters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This evolution included a significant rebranding in 2022 from our former name, MetaBank, after the sale of the 'Meta' trademark. This change to Pathward better reflects our ongoing commitment to providing a path forward for individuals and businesses who have been underserved by traditional financial institutions.

Our core mission is to break down the barriers to financial access. We achieve this by partnering with a diverse range of fintech companies, program managers, and government agencies to deliver innovative and accessible financial products and services. These solutions are designed for the people and businesses who need them most, aiming to disrupt traditional banking norms and promote economic mobility.
