OutsourcedIn is partnering with Australian residential builders to hire a Senior Residential Estimator to provide high-level remote estimating and cost planning support across national residential projects.

This role supports Australian-based estimating and construction teams, delivering accurate and commercially sound estimates for houses, duplexes, townhouses, and small-to-medium residential developments.

Proven Australian residential estimating experience is essential.

About the Role

You will provide senior-level estimating support to Australian construction teams, ensuring detailed, accurate, and competitive pricing aligned with Australian market standards.

This is a technical support role — working under Australian construction managers and senior estimators.

Key Responsibilities

Residential Estimating

• Deliver detailed construction estimates for Australian residential projects

• Prepare estimates for:

  • New residential builds

  • Duplexes and townhouses

  • Medium-density and small subdivision developments

• Complete comprehensive trade and material take-offs from architectural, structural, and civil drawings

Costing & Commercial Review

• Price labour, materials, preliminaries, margins, and contingencies

• Align subcontractor scopes with Australian market rates

• Identify scope gaps, exclusions, cost risks, and assumptions

• Recommend value-engineering and cost-saving opportunities

Tender & Budget Support

• Assist with feasibility studies and early-stage budgets

• Support tender submissions and pricing schedules

• Prepare variations, re-prices, and cost updates

Collaboration & Systems

• Work closely with Construction Managers, Project Managers, and Senior Estimators

• Maintain and refine estimating templates and cost databases

• Update supplier and subcontractor rate libraries

• Review and guide junior estimating staff where required

Mandatory Requirements

• Minimum 10+ years overall experience in residential construction estimating

• Strong, demonstrable Australian residential estimating experience (ESSENTIAL)

• Experience estimating projects across multiple Australian states

• Deep understanding of:

  • Australian residential construction methods

  • Trade sequencing and buildability

  • Local subcontractor scopes and allowances

• Proficiency in:

  • CostX, Buildsoft (Cubit), EstimateOne, or similar

  • Advanced Excel for cost modelling and analysis

• Ability to independently interpret:

  • Architectural, structural, and civil drawings

  • Specifications and schedules

• Strong commercial judgement and attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

• Experience working with:

  • Volume builders

  • Custom home builders

  • Medium-density residential developers

• Exposure to Australian contracts and pricing structures

• Previous remote/offshore senior estimating experience

• Ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines concurrently
