Our roots trace back to 1943 with the establishment of the Maritime Hospital Service Association, born out of a need to help people manage the cost of hospital care. From these humble beginnings, we have grown into a comprehensive health services organization that touches the lives of one in ten Canadians.

Our organization is comprised of two main pillars: Medavie Blue Cross and Medavie Health Services. Medavie Blue Cross is a premier all-in-one benefits carrier, providing health, dental, travel, life, and disability coverage for individuals and organizations across Canada. We also have the privilege of administering various federal and provincial government-sponsored health programs. Medavie Health Services is a leader in primary health care solutions and stands as the largest contracted provider of emergency management services in Canada. Together, our team of over 8,000 dedicated professionals works tirelessly to ensure faster, easier access to quality care and outstanding plan value.
