GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Business Development Manager’s (BDM) primary role is to develop & execute the East Region’s sales/channel strategy for MRT/MHT products. New business development in the Specialty Channel, while driving demand within key industries convincing them to choose the Manitou brand when renting or buying the range. This position will also assist and develop the Region in maintaining excellence and product competency to grow the business and achieve market penetration targets.

Region: Northeast, Mid Atlantic, Southeast states

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Team/Market Development:

  • The BDM provides leadership and guidance conditions for the sales team to achieve growth through market penetration.
  • Analyzes historical sales information, understands current sales strategies, distribution channels, and their present penetration and market limitations. The market strategy includes understanding the competition, competitive pricing and distribution, market access, customer preferences and typical product applications. The output is a measurable market plan that increases our market share and revenue in the region.
  • Responsible for identifying, contracting and developing new dealers in AOR
  • Develops dealer channel competencies with assigned MRT/MHT product portfolio .
  • Collaborates with dealer principals & dealer sales representatives to seek out opportunities to develop the dealer overall, including selling and renting in appropriate markets & applications.

Market:

  • Seek out and disseminate information on the market including end users, applications type, product & accessories, competitive products, and specifications along with competitive pricing. Then develop a sales plan that is appropriate for the market in conjunction with the MD & VP of MNA.
  • Assists Product Development in field evaluations of new products.

Communication:

  • Prepares and submits timely travel itineraries based on a 3-month rotation, call, expense, annual business plans and special reports.
  • Communicates with the MD / RSM / PASSM / ASM, BD-MRT/MHT Manager to provide detailed feedback on progress, capabilities, and development of the contracted dealerships / Opportunities in Key Industries.
  • Uses all corporate reporting tools (CRM) accurately, completely, and within communicated protocols.

Safety:

  • Performs all job functions in a safe manner and maintains safety awareness whether on Manitou Equipment or competitive equipment companions.
  • Reports known accidents, injuries, and unsafe practices and/or conditions to the supervisor at the first given opportunity.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction equipment sales and business development is required.

EXPERTISE:

  • Proven verbal, written and public speaking skills.
  • Proficient computer skills including Google: email, sheets, Power Point.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND/OR WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to operate a variety of motor vehicles such as trucks, panel trucks, compact/ heavy equipment, and unload trailers. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

LOCALIZATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTED:

  • This position is remote.
  • Travel up to 75% domestically. International travel may be required.
