Leidos Government Health & Safety Solution Group in Windsor Mill, MD in support of the End User Centric IT Support (ECIS) Contract for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is looking to improve and advance the organization. Our program is focused on the delivery of end-user centric IT technology solution to our customer CMS where we are challenged to provide ongoing innovative and seamless experience while using CMS systems, applications and solutions, provide proactive secure development of IT integrations, concepts, and designs across the CMS enterprise and integrate end-user computing devices, conference room technology, infrastructure hardware and software, and user applications into a streamlined and seamless experience across the CMS user base. We foster a positive end-user experience while ensuring protection of the data.

We are in search of a UI/UX Designer. The successful candidate under the direction of the Development and Engineering Lead, Product Manager, Program Manager and Deputy Program Manager will work within an Agile ITIL environment with a large focus on DevOps. The candidate will be a member of the ECIS Development Team providing Subject Matter Expert UI/UX designing support.

Primary Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for design, a passion for creating intuitive and engaging user interfaces, and the technical skills to bring these designs to life. As a UI/UX Designer, you will be responsible for designing intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces for our development needs. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand user needs, conduct user research, and translate insights into innovative design solutions. This role requires excellent problem-solving skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Participation in scrum sprint activities related to software development will be required as necessary. Other duties will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Design and Development: Create visually appealing, user-friendly, and responsive interfaces for web and mobile applications.

  • Research and Analysis: Conduct user research, usability testing, and market analysis to inform design decisions and improve user experiences.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of UI/UX designs into the final product.

  • Prototyping: Develop wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes to visualize and communicate design ideas.

  • User Research: Ability to conduct user research and analyze user feedback.

  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest design trends, technologies, and best practices to continually enhance the quality of the user experience.

  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive design documentation, style guides, and specifications for development teams.

  • Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in UI/UX design and incorporate them into your work.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 5 or more years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • Proven experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design process and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in UI/UX design and front-end development.

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, and front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and explain design concepts to various stakeholders.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or higher security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with popular Web UI design frameworks such as Bootstrap, Material UI, Tailwind CSS, Ant Design, etc.

  • Understanding of continuous integration, continuous deployment, and infrastructure as code.

  • Experience with implementing a multi-part UI that can track required actions related to a specific task, from initial receipt of the task through completion/response (e.g. “pizza tracker” with action reminders for multiple users during different steps prior to final release).

  • Experience with user research methodologies and usability testing.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and best practices.

  • Experience in creating animations and interactive elements.

  • Strong understanding of web technologies and design trends to create innovative and responsive designs.

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a user-centered approach to design.

  • High attention to detail, ensuring design consistency and quality across all platforms.

  • Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, or other development methodologies and best practices.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Proactive and able to adapt to changing project requirements.

  • Experience with change control principals and ticket with Service Now (SNOW).

  • Experience with design, planning and implementation in environments with 10,000+ users.

Pay Range $85,150.00 - $153,925.00

Leidos' story begins in 1969 when Dr. J. Robert Beyster, a visionary scientist, founded Science Applications Incorporated (SAI) in La Jolla, San Diego, California.
