This role supports the design, development, and maintenance of automation solutions that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort across the organization.

The ideal candidate is an experienced automation developer who can work independently on assigned tasks, contribute to solution design discussions, and collaborate effectively with a team of engineers and stakeholders. This position is hands-on and delivery-focused, with opportunities to grow technical depth across RPA, AI-enabled automation, and low-code platforms.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy UiPath-based automation solutions.

  • Participate in process discovery and requirements gathering with internal teams and customers.

  • Contribute to solution design discussions and provide technical input on automation approaches.

  • Build and maintain UiPath workflows following established development standards and best practices.

  • Support the integration of AI-enabled tools and platforms (e.g., Anthropic, ChatGPT, Copilot) into automation solutions, as applicable.

  • Implement appropriate exception handling, logging, and monitoring.

  • Deploy and manage automations using UiPath Orchestrator (On-Prem & Automation Cloud), including scheduling and troubleshooting.

  • Create and maintain process and technical documentation (PDDs, SDDs, user guides).

  • Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing activities.

  • Manage assigned work with minimal supervision while collaborating closely with the broader automation team.

  • Stay current with automation, AI, and low-code technologies and recommend incremental improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum 2 years of relevant practical experience, or Master’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant practical experience.

  • High school diploma with additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

  • A minimum if 2 years of experience as a UiPath RPA Developer.

  • Ability to obtain Secret clearance immediately upon hire.

  • Hands-on experience developing, testing, and deploying UiPath automations.

  • Experience working with UiPath Orchestrator for job scheduling, monitoring, and issue resolution.

  • Solid understanding of software development fundamentals, including testing and debugging.

  • Experience with process analysis and technical documentation.

  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and learn new technologies.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on defined tasks.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • UiPath RPA Developer Associate or Advanced Certification.

  • Experience with AI platforms, such as Anthropic (Claude), ChatGPT/OpenAI, and Microsoft Copilot.

  • Familiarity with prompt engineering concepts.

  • Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps.

  • Programming experience with Python.

  • Experience with VB.NET, PowerShell, or SQL.

  • Exposure to Snowflake and/or Databricks.

  • Familiarity with Git, Jira, and Confluence.

  • IAT Level II Certified or able to obtain certification.

  • Active Secret-level or higher clearance.

Leidos' story begins in 1969 when Dr. J. Robert Beyster, a visionary scientist, founded Science Applications Incorporated (SAI) in La Jolla, San Diego, California. With a modest investment and a powerful idea, Dr. Beyster embarked on a journey to apply scientific expertise to solve complex problems. The company's early days were marked by a focus on research and engineering, tackling challenges for various government and commercial clients. One of its initial significant projects involved studying radiation-based cancer therapy for the Los Alamos National Laboratory, which laid the groundwork for Leidos' future health business. SAI soon expanded its reach, opening an office in Albuquerque to support the Air Force Weapons Laboratory's work on electromagnetic phenomena, a precursor to the company's Physical Science Group.

Throughout the 1980s, the company, then known as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), strategically shifted its focus towards national security and defense, solidifying its position as a key government services provider. This era set the stage for substantial growth and diversification. The 1990s saw SAIC continue to expand its offerings and international presence, securing its first major global contract with the Kuwaiti Defense Forces. A pivotal moment arrived in 2013 when SAIC underwent a significant transformation, splitting into two independent, publicly traded companies: a new company retaining the SAIC name and the original company, which was rebranded as Leidos (a name derived from 'kaleidoscope'). Leidos, as the legal successor to the original SAIC, inherited its pre-2013 stock price and corporate filing history and established its new headquarters in Reston, Virginia. This strategic move allowed Leidos to sharpen its focus on national security, health, and engineering solutions. Another major milestone occurred in August 2016 when Leidos merged with Lockheed Martin's Information Systems & Global Solutions (IS&GS) business, a landmark transaction that created the defense industry's largest IT services provider and significantly expanded Leidos' capabilities and market share. Today, Leidos stands as a Fortune 500® global science and technology leader, employing approximately 47,000 people worldwide and generating billions in annual revenue, committed to making the world safer, healthier, and more efficient through innovation and technology.
