- Partners with business leader in supporting business and identifying people strategies to help execute the business strategy. Provides proactive HR support to business leadership and employees.
- Functions as a seasoned professional in evaluating risks and recommending best approaches to HR based upon the risk assessment.
- Maintains an effective level of business knowledge about the business unit’s financial position, midrange plans, its culture and its competition.
- Participates in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follows up to ensure training objectives are met.
- Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Identifies training needs for business unites and individual executive coaching needs. May develop and conduct training sessions as needed.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching career development, reward and recognition and disciplinary actions).
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale and increase productive and retention.
- Assists in the development and administration of HR programs at the corporate level.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Provides oversight and approval for salary administration for business unit support.
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Travels between business unit locations and occasionally to the Raleigh headquarters.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred with at least 5 years of current experience working as n Human Resource Business Partner (to include talent management, employee relations and training) or equivalent.
- Equivalent is defined as 9 years of current experience working as a Human Resource Business Partner (to include talent management, employee relations and training).
- 5 years of training experience.
- Extensive experience with employee relations
- Experience supporting 300 or more employees to include executives.
- Ability to represent the business unit’s position and needs as it relates to strategic HR planning.
- Ability to deal with complex clients and situations.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Strong employee relations experience.
- Ability to travel, as needed, to assigned locations.
- Demonstrated confidence in making recommendations based upon information at hand.
- Prior insurance industry experience.
