Our customers fight everything from human trafficking to tiger poaching, insurance fraud to organised crime and you will help them make a difference, every day. i2 is now looking for an experienced Engineering Manager on a full-time, permanent, remote or hybrid-working basis, in the UK.
What you will do
You will arm analysts with multidimensional visual analysis and advanced analytics capabilities so they can quickly uncover hidden connections and patterns in large data sets.
You will lead a team of talented engineers in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality software solutions. As an Engineering Manager, you will oversee the ongoing efforts of the development team. The manager is expected to perpetuate collaboration, transparency and innovation among our team members. They are also expected to strive for quality, efficiency and agility while supporting development deliverables on time and on budget.
Our development teams deliver value to customers in both a desktop application and web context using Microsoft C++/.NET and React technologies respectively. Analytics are provided by Java Web services orchestrating both an RDBMS and Solr Text Index. The whole stack can be delivered in a containerised cloud context providing a step change in time-to-value for our clients.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Team Leadership & Development
Lead and manage members of the R&D team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to team members.
Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the R&D team.
Project & Technical Management
Develop and implement R&D strategies that align with organizational goals and objectives.
Prepare and present reports on R&D activities, progress, and outcomes to senior management.
Oversee planning, prioritization, and execution of technical projects from concept to delivery.
Work closely with product management, design, and QA to ensure timely and high-quality releases.
Operational Excellence
Manage the R&D budget, resources, and timelines to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Champion agile methodologies and drive continuous process improvements.
What we are looking for
Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent work experience.
7+ years of experience in software development.
3+ years of experience in a leadership role.
Proven track record of successful R&D projects and product development.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to software development.
Strong decision-making skills with the ability to balance technical and business needs.
