About GetUp
We are an independent movement of more than one million everyday people working to build a progressive Australia and bring participation back into our democracy. We were founded in 2005 by a group of concerned citizens who wanted to create a way for Australians to take easy, meaningful action on the issues they care about. Today, we are one of the country's largest campaigning communities, united by a shared belief in fairness, compassion, and courage.
Our work is driven by values, not party politics. We campaign on the issues that matter to our members, from climate justice and First Nations justice to economic fairness and human rights. We combine the power of digital campaigning with on-the-ground community organising to amplify the voices of everyday people and hold politicians and corporations to account. We believe that when we work together, we can achieve extraordinary things.
We are a team of campaigners, organisers, technologists, and creatives who are passionate about making a difference. We are constantly innovating and experimenting with new ways to engage people and create change. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive movement that reflects the rich tapestry of Australian society. We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we meet and work, and we pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and future.
