POSITION SUMMARY
We provide our utility clients with a wide range of energy-saving and renewable energy solutions. From individual utility customers and construction contractors, to utilities, municipalities, and government bodies, our clients have come to depend on our customized energy efficiency programs to help them to meet their energy saving goals.
The Staff Accountant II is primarily responsible for high level daily accounting functions to enable the Finance area to meet the accounting objectives of the organization. This position performs central accounting activities related to one or more of the following functions: general ledger, customer invoicing and account reconciliations. This position also helps supervise and train Staff Accountant I’s. You will also be working with others who are passionate about energy efficiency and making a positive impact on the industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
• Perform high level accounting functions
• Help train and supervise the Staff Accountant I position.
• Prepare invoices for our more complicated programs/customers and work closely with Program Managers and Regional Financial Analysts (RFA) to ensure timely and accurate information is received
• Help the RFA’s calculate end of month accruals
• Review program contract terms to ensure invoices are in compliance with them
• Advanced analysis of financial and program data/reports
• Set up new customer programs in the accounting system
• Bank reconciliations, daily cash reporting, and support of the Rebate Check process
• Reconciliation of various accounts and analysis as required
• Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts
• Preparation of sales and use tax and/or property tax returns
• Interact with external auditors in completing audits and perform selected SOC audit procedures
• Preparation of cash forecasts and other monthly financial documents
• Work with internal customers to support the reporting needs of the business
• Other projects as needed

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an Accounting role required
• Prior experience working with Microsoft Dynamics SL or concur preferred

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements and invoices
• Experience invoicing customers – especially in a time and expense system - preferred
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Must be able to handle a wide work variety and work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize workload
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook
◦ Advance Excel skills required, including pivot tables and v-lookups
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers, clients and employees
• Strong data entry skills in entering information in tracking systems/databases
• Knowledge of mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality
• Reliable Transportation

Licenses & Certifications
• Valid driver’s license

Travel Requirements
• Willingness to travel up to 5% of the time
