About the role:

The purpose of this role is to provide leadership across our engineering group and ensure that we continue to build and operate our SaaS product globally. You will have a team of Engineering leaders and be ultimately responsible for ensuring that we have the right skill set, the right number of people, and the right engineering culture and practices to meet the needs of clients and our business objectives. By supporting the definition and execution of the platform roadmap, you will ensure that the Platform teams support our strategic direction, keep our platform secure, and keep our developers productive. Balancing short-term needs with our strategic direction, you will drive improvements to Flux’s Engineering culture, Platform, and Product offering. This role reports to the Chief Product and Technology Officer.

In addition to this, you’ll also be responsible for:

• Working with Engineering leaders to build a culture that supports high-performing and highly engaged teams
• Driving the recruitment and retention of a diverse group of Engineers who can deliver on our work pipeline and meet our operational requirements
• Working with the Engineering Managers and the Head of Product to ensure we balance our short-term deliverables with the Product and Engineering strategies
• Supporting the definition of the work pipeline and ensuring Platform teams are across any dependencies
• Ensuring our Platform remains compliant with all certifications, the Platform teams are executing on the Platform roadmap, delivering to agreed milestones, and keeping the platform up and running
• Driving an Engineering culture that continuously improves our engineering practices
• Providing the ultimate technical oversight to the technical approaches taken for the Flux platform
• Working as part of the Product and Engineering Leadership team to improve how Flux operates as a business
• Supporting the Chief Product & Technology Officer as required, including providing a technical roadmap
• Working with our architects and the Chief Product and Technology Officer, you’ll help to define the Engineering strategy and continue to improve the way that we deliver our platform

The knowledge, experience, and skills you bring to this position include:

• You’ve led a large group of engineers to deliver a SaaS product successfully, ideally, you have been a manager of managers
• You have experience as an engineer, and today, you still provide technical guidance to your teams
• You’re highly pragmatic and able to balance short-term needs with strategic objectives when simultaneously delivering projects, large-scale implementations, and product development
• You’ve led the delivery of B2B software solutions and know how to balance client demands with operational and architectural sustainability
• You’re on top of everything, you can balance multiple competing priorities
• You’ve built permanent staff teams while leveraging talent from contracting partners
• You can think strategically when defining and executing technology roadmaps while seizing tactical opportunities
• You’ve supported ongoing platform compliance with industry standards such as ISO27001 and PCI
• Having been a hands-on engineer at some point in the past, you have a deep understanding of the challenges that engineers face when building a modern SaaS platform and experience determining the right time to make changes
• You’re a great communicator and able to influence stakeholders across the business
• You are driven to improve engineering culture and practices continually
