Essential Functions:
- Analyzes, investigates and adjudicates life and annuity claims to ensure the timely and accurate payment of contract benefits
- Obtains reports, medical records, eligibility, and/or additional information required to investigate and process claims
- Responds to all agents’, policyowners’ and beneficiaries’ written, telephone and e-mail inquiries regarding benefit information, claims, and appeals
- Collaborates with peers and management to ensure consistent interpretations of policy provisions and claim payment methods
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Associate’s degree with courses in business or marketing customer service preferred
- Two years of experience with life and annuity claims
- LOMA and/or International Claims Association (ICA) coursework preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Good knowledge of life and annuity claims processing including federal and state regulations and tax legalities
- Good investigative and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills
- Accurate data entry skills with a keyboarding speed of 40-45 wpm
- Strong knowledge of computer systems
- Ten-key by touch
- Strong math and bookkeeping skills
The hiring salary range for this position will vary based on geographic location, falling within either of the following:
$42,134 - $58,077 or $46,466 - $64,023A hiring range represents a subset of the full salary range. The actual salary will depend on several factors, including relevant education, skills, and experience of an applicant, geographic location, and business needs.
