Job Purpose and Overview
The Director of Engineering will coordinate, control progress and report on all capital projects of Dawn Foods North America, from inception of the project concept to completion (achievement of the volume and quality of the product), making sure the needs of the different stakeholders in the business needs are translated into engineering-technology solutions.
This is a remote position with approximately 25% travel required. Relocation assistance will be provided for the right candidate.
What will you do as a Director of Engineering at Dawn Foods?
- Understand the needs of the different stakeholders of a Capex project to coordinate the completion CAPEX Planning prioritization and Capital Expenditure Request (CER) workflow is followed for every project.
- Efficiently control the pre-CER phase of project by making sure progress is made according to standard workflow, process and timings.
- Review CERs before circulation, making sure that: a) complete information is provided, including but not limited to the financial evaluation and ROI; b) vendors and contractors and costs have been approved by Sr Dir Engineering; c) an approved Scope, Schedule, Risk Mitigations and Budget documentation is in place; and d) applicable workflow requirements have been considered.
- Support the Engineering Project Management Office (PMO) reporting to him/her, to maintain constant progress on all projects and update according to existing situation.
- Implements and drives adoption of the Engineering CAPEX tracking and reporting system.
- Review, control, and report to the different stakeholders on the progress of every project regarding timing of execution, investment cash flow, and on-volume & on-quality delivery of product.
- If changes in the initial Capital Prioritization occur, coordinate the evaluation of the impact of that change on the project timing, cost efficiency or quality, etc., with corresponding Project Engineer, and makes sure proper approval takes place.
- Coordinate financial closing of the projects.
- Ensure the broader administrative legal and ethical policies and procedures of Dawn are followed through the project execution, including but not limited to contracts policies (legal), capital, liquidity and credit risk (finance), etc.
- When policies or procedures are non-existent or unclear, direct the creation of policies and procedures necessary for the operation of the projects, in compliance with rules & regulations of Dawn Foods and/or external authorities/regulators.
What Does It Take to be a Director of Engineering at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Process Engineering, Chemical, Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
- Master’s degree in Industrial Processing, Architecture, Engineering, Business, or Construction is preferred.
- Certified PE, PMP, PMI-CP, CMP, Lean Six Sigma, OSHA 10-30 Courses or similar is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in Manufacturing, Plant Management, Engineering, or similar field in the food industry.
- 10 years of experience managing/leading teams of varying skills levels/disciplines and supervising multiple direct reports.
- Experience managing and leading cross-functional 5-Year CAPEX planning business cycles for full enterprise portfolios.
- Proven track record of building effective cross functional partnerships and influencing, leading, and managing change through established leadership channels.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, in all directions (including Executive) and to multiple levels of in the organization utilizing appropriate communications channels.
- Cross-functional leadership and proven track record of effectively influencing outside direct area of responsibilities.
- Proven track record of aligning CAPEX investments with strategic business requirements.
- Experience creating and executing against departmental OPEX budgets.
- Proven experience of creating, planning, forecasting, and managing enterprise CAPEX portfolios against annual targets within +/-5%
- Experience with adherence to Corporate Policies and procedures.
- Experience with creating, implementing, and managing bidding, engineering, and general contracts of complex multidiscipline projects.
- Strong knowledge and experience in the principles, concepts, techniques and implementation of Total Productive Maintenance/Manufacturing to support Dawn Maintenance Transformation.
- Knowledge of effective methods and techniques of organizing and managing engineering services.
- Financial acumen for project evaluation and cost improvement.

Compensation: $118,730 - $201,850 + Bonus Potential
