About ourtechnology
Our product adopts a microservice architecture for scalability and flexibility, using Kafka for event streaming and PostgreSQL for data storage.
We use Kubernetes to orchestrate our containers, allowing us to offer cloud (AWS & Azure) andon-premisedeployment options of our platform. Our infrastructure ismaintainedbya state-of-the-artgitops/IaCpipeline.
We heavily lean on open-source tools and libraries, as well asmaintainingour own, to make development faster, simpler, and more consistent. Our code is managed using Git, undergoes peer review before we test, package and deploy through our CI/CD pipelines.
About the role
As a Java Lead Engineer, you will drive technical direction, mentor and empower your team, and collaborate across squads to deliver robust, scalable solutions for the CSG Quote & Order product.You’llbe the go-to person for technical decisions and will play a key role in defining our development standards, architecture, and best practices.
In your first 90 days,you’llget comfortable with our system, build strong relationships across the Quote & Order team, and design new features to deliver awesome outcomes for our customers.
What you will do
Help shape our technical roadmap, aligning system architecture and development priorities with long-term business goals.
Code software! We want 25% of your time to be spent working on R&D projects / product development.
Champion clean, efficient code by giving thoughtful PR feedback and holding the team tohigh standards.
Be a real multiplier on your team’s efficiency. Proactively address inefficiencies/blockers, critically assess your team's performance, and provide targeted coaching soothers can level up their skills.
Collaborate with product and design teams to translate customer needs into impactful, user-friendly features.
Take ownership across our systems. Spot inefficiencies, resolve bottlenecks and keep everything running like clockwork.
Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and trends to keep us at the forefront of innovation and productivity.
Role requirements
You’vebeen building with modern Java SE (17+) for 8+ years and know your stuff.
You’vesuccessfully led teams, provided mentorship, and made high-impact technical decisions.
You thrive on teamwork, cancommunicateand collaborate easily with your teammates.
Linux and Docker are your natural habitat.You’recompletely at home in this environment.
You know your way around the development tools like GitHub,Mavenand Kubernetes
Bonus points ifyou’vedabbled in: AWS/Azure, PL/PGSQL,MyBatis, Camunda BPMN Engine, REST APIframeworksand other parts of our technology stack.

The Quote & Order team does notmaintaina dedicated office space, so your position will be 100% remotewith the exception ofseveral in-person workshops during the year (in Bali – see below – and Melbourne).
Twice-yearly workshops in Bali: Twice a year the whole Quote & Order team gets together in Bali, Indonesia for dedicated in-person time including team presentations, hackathon sessions,trainingand team-building activities.
