Location: This is a remote role. Candidates who live near CB offices have theoptionof being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office). All CB employeesare required tooccasionallytravelto meet in person(4-6 times peryear)forbusiness purposes.

About the Team

AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. With almost 40 courses in a wide variety of subject areas, AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. The AP program is continuing to rapidly expand its development of instructional and assessment products under the leadership of the growing Assessment Production team. The team currently consists of50+talented and collaborative professionals withexpertisein a variety of domains and will continue to expand over the next year.

To support the continued production of high-quality teacher- and student-facing materials, the AP Program islookingto fillthe role ofAssociateDirector, AP Permissions& Licensing.

Aboutthe Opportunity

AsAssociate Director, AP Permissions& Licensing, youwill secure third-party copyright permissions primarily for all AP assessment products across all courses, as well as other curricular products in the AP division.Youwillworkclosely with AP Permissions staff,courseteams, andproductmanagersoneach course’sassessmentproduction efforts to build and execute a copyright plan that balances the needs and priorities of various stakeholders.

AsAssociate Director, AP Permissions& Licensing, you are an integral member of the cross-functional team building and delivering AP Exams. You are a collaborative, insightful, andhighly motivatedprofessional, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for educationalopportunity. You are not shy about researching texts and images, contacting rightsholders, and working with external vendors.

In this role, you will:

Research and clear permissions for AP Assessments (60%)

  • Review stakeholder requests for use of third-party contentacross APcourses and make determinations about permissions, fair use, and public domain

  • Facilitate permissions requests with rightsholders when needed; ensure that we are seeking theappropriate rightsneeded; handle all correspondence with rightsholders from request through contract signature and payment

  • Adhere to agreed-upon schedules to ensure that permissions deadlines are met; propose alternative pathways and solutions when permissionscannotbe secured

Support communications for AP Permissions & Licensing (30%)

  • Partner with APcourseteams and courseproductmanagers to ensure copyright tracking for all current projects is up-to-date and provides all needed information such as credit lines

  • Liaise with Assessment Productionproductmanagers to ensure that permissions requests aresubmittedwith proper timing in the process and documentation

  • Report on progress, at regular intervals, in writing and via scheduled meetings; ensure that all team members are aware of potential risks and propose alternative solutions

  • Make informed, independent judgment calls on permissions and content issues; escalate issues and steer to higher-level resolution when needed

  • Receive reports on AP content posted online without permission, handle removals, andmaintaincorrespondence in Copyright Violations email inbox

DriveProcess Development and Improvement (10%)

  • Collaborate with peers within and outside the broader AP Assessment Production team to document and iterate on current permissions management practices

  • Share recommendations for process and tool improvements on an ongoing basis

About You

You Have:

  • 4+years' experiencewith copyright permissions and / or licensing

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Understanding ofcopyright including public domain and fair use, and the process of requesting permission from rightsholders

  • A detail-driven, process-oriented mindset

  • ExpertiseinSmartsheet ,MS Excel and item bank management.

  • Ability to process and distill large volumes of data and draw insightful conclusions to drive decision-making

  • Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills;demonstratedability toestablishpositive working relationships at all levels of the organization

  • Are eligible to work in the USA for any employer
