It was a journey that started with Alan Farrelly, whose family has been running Farrelly's Coaches in Longford, Ireland, since the 1980s. Growing up in the business, Alan gained an intimate, firsthand understanding of the operational challenges and complexities of running a bus network. This deep-seated industry knowledge became one of the foundational pillars of CitySwift. The other pillar was technology, brought into the picture by Alan's childhood friend, Brian O'Rourke. A tech-savvy entrepreneur with a background in software engineering and big data analytics from his time at CitiBank, Brian saw the immense potential of applying data science to the public transport sector. The two friends, combining their unique expertise, envisioned a future where data could transform public transport, making it more efficient, reliable, and passenger-centric. This shared vision, born from a conversation in a pub, was the spark that ignited CitySwift in 2016.
