CALSTART seeks a Lead Project Manager for Electric School Bus (ESB) Incentives. This is a leadership role on our ESB team. This role will focus on leading, designing, and implementing our applicant portal. Internally, this role will collaborate with the Salesforce Team to develop an easy-to-use user interface for School Districts that participate in grant funding. Externally, this role will support the California Air Resources Board (CARB), California Energy Commission (CEC), and School Districts in administering grant applications and complying with the standards set by CEC and CARB. This is a remote opportunity, and persons can be located anywhere in the US, but CA is preferred.

What you'll do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the ZESBI infrastructure program under the direction of the Program Manager.
  • Create the operational workflows to enable Salesforce and other grant processing procedures.
  • Supports the school bus incentive team in monitoring applications, redemptions, vehicle scrappage, and other documentation like developing SOPS and internal controls with the leadership of the Program Manager
  • Serve as the liaison between the ESB incentive program management team, Salesforce technology development team, and voucher processing team.
  • Responsible for supporting the design and operational implementation of the CEC contracted portion of the ZESBI program.
  • Manage, mentor, guide, and train 1-2 staff members from the ESB team, ensuring their success and meeting development goals.
  • Partial budgetary preparation/compliance accountability for state contracts

What you'll bring:

  • 3+ years of experience working in public grant or incentive program administration.
  • Experience with project management, program development, and workflow design.
  • Knowledge of public grants and incentives design and administration process
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Public Administration, Business, Environmental Studies, Environmental Science, Policy, or a related field is preferred.
  • Project management of grant or incentive programs
  • Analytical abilities in managing deliverables, feedback, and outcomes.
  • Exceptional communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Experience managing public and private stakeholder engagement and outreach strategy to expand and enhance participation and industry transformation.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify high-priority projects and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Desired Qualifications:
  • Project Management Professional Certification
  • Knowledge of the electric school bus landscape, including policies, state/federal incentives, manufacturing, etc.
  • Planning for school bus infrastructure designs
  • Salesforce experience
