Welcome to Brightline! We are searching for a dynamic, solutions-oriented Director of Legal, Risk & Compliance Operations to join our Legal, Compliance & Operational Security team. This person will be a key operational and strategic partner in managing and scaling our team’s processes, systems, and strategy. You’ll work cross-functionally with Product, Commercial, Finance, HR and Care Operations, (and potentially other internal stakeholders!) to ensure seamless risk-managed growth through contract workflows, timely negotiations, and process improvements for successful risk mitigation in our business.

This role requires a strong foundation in commercial contracts management, exceptional organizational and project management and operational skills, and a builder’s mindset—someone eager to improve systems, increase efficiency, and help Brightline scale responsibly.

Responsibilities:

  • Triage incoming legal and compliance requests, identify areas of risk, and escalate appropriately when needed

  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle for commercial, vendor, partnership, and operational contracts, including negotiation, redlining, execution, and renewals by supporting General Counsel and small security and compliance team

  • Serve as the subject matter expert and first point of contact for contracts-related processes, policies, and requests from internal teams

  • Increase clarity in communication between Risk Management team and the greater organization, by drafting decision memos, supporting communication and visibility to the org at large (and sometimes, the Board) as to weekly, quarterly and annual plans for the Legal, Security and Compliance Team

  • Develop and refine contract management systems and tools (e.g., Ironclad or equivalent) to support scaling needs

  • Build and maintain Brightline’s contract templates, legal playbooks, and guidance resources, ensuring alignment with legal and compliance standards

  • Partner with Commercial on customer-facing agreements, including redlines and negotiations

  • Collaborate with Finance on vendor contracts, ensuring efficient processes and alignment with budget and compliance protocols

  • Identify, implement, and operationalize improvements to reduce friction in the contract review and approval process

  • Develop and deliver training and documentation on contracts processes and best practices

  • Track and report on key metrics and team performance indicators

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in commercial contracting and legal operations, with a preference for in-house healthcare or health tech experience

  • Proven ability to lead contract negotiations independently, with excellent drafting and risk assessment skills

  • Strong understanding of HIPAA, business associate agreements, and regulatory considerations in the healthcare industry

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with a track record of managing multiple competing priorities and deadlines

  • Experience managing or implementing contract lifecycle management (CLM) platforms (Ironclad experience is a plus)

  • Skilled collaborator and communicator who builds trust across all teams in our organization

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and creating clarity through process, structure, and documentation

  • Comfortable managing up to ensure timely responses from management and business stakeholders and ensuring process adherence at all org levels

  • Mission-driven and passionate about increasing access to behavioral health care for kids and families

We offer several benefits, perks, and stipends:

  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, Flexible Spending Account, and 401k

  • Health and Wellness Stipend, Home Office Reimbursement and Professional Development Reimbursement

  • Stock Options

Brightline is dedicated to addressing the significant challenges families face when seeking behavioral and mental health care for their children and teenagers. Many parents find the process of finding timely, affordable, and high-quality care to be overwhelming, often encountering long waitlists, difficulty navigating insurance, and a fragmented system that doesn't cater to the unique needs of young individuals. Our customers, these families, are looking for accessible solutions that can provide support for a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, ADHD, conduct disorders, and other common childhood behavioral health issues. They need a partner who understands the urgency and the emotional toll these challenges can take on the entire family unit.

At Brightline, we offer a comprehensive, family-centered approach to pediatric behavioral health. We provide virtual therapy, psychiatry, coaching programs, and on-demand support designed specifically for children, teens, and their caregivers. Our services are built to be convenient, allowing families to access care from the comfort of their homes, thereby reducing the logistical burdens often associated with traditional in-person appointments. We aim to empower families by equipping them with the tools, resources, and expert guidance needed to navigate their child's behavioral health journey. By partnering with employers and health plans, we strive to make our services more affordable and readily available, ensuring that more children and teens can receive the critical support they need to thrive. Our mission is to transform the behavioral health landscape for young people, making it easier for families to get the right care, at the right time, in the right way.
