About BJAK

We build superior application platforms globally with the mission of creating successful businesses while contributing positively to society by making it more efficient.

We developed the first and leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia to digitize the insurance industry. The platform currently serves over 8 million users across the region. We are continuing our mission by building new, superior applications in emerging use cases as applications become increasingly integrated with AI.

Our team is densely talented, highly motivated, and focused on engineering and product excellence within a very flat organization. All members are expected to be hands-on and to contribute directly to the company’s mission.

Why This Role Matters

  • Serve as the trusted extension of the CEO's mind, maximizing their effectiveness and strategic focus.

  • Translate the CEO's vision into clear, actionable priorities (OKRs/KPIs) and ensure consistent, rigorous follow-through across all leadership teams.

  • Operate as the central hub of communication, planning, and coordination for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT).

  • Own cross-functional problems and fix them with a bias for speed, structure, and accountability.

  • Help scale the company by building necessary systems and driving momentum in a relentlessly fast-moving environment.

What You Will Do

  • Partner directly with the founder/CEO to define, track, and drive progress on company-wide strategic priorities, OKRs, and critical initiatives.

  • Prepare high-quality briefings, analysis, and recommendations to support C-level decision-making and strategically optimize the founder/CEO's time and focus.

  • Lead and facilitate core leadership forums (ELT meetings, off-sites), driving clear agendas, documentation, and ensuring cross-departmental alignment and execution momentum.

  • Draft and refine polished communication materials for internal teams, the Board, and investors, serving as a key liaison across departments.

  • Lead and execute high-priority, complex projects that do not have a natural departmental owner, supporting strategic initiatives from planning through execution.

  • Identify operational gaps or inefficiencies across the business and proactively coordinate the solutions and systems required to enable company-wide scale.

You Will Thrive Here If You...

  • Treat the company’s success as your own, with a deep sense of responsibility and ownership.

  • Thrive in high-speed, ambiguous environments where you must solve problems independently and get things done without needing a playbook.

  • Work with intensity, integrity, and zero ego. You care about the best outcome, not whose idea it is.

  • Operate with a founder mindset: proactive, resourceful, and relentlessly focused on what truly moves the needle.

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, especially under pressure, and stay composed in chaos.

  • Are willing to work beyond typical hours when the mission demands it.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, business operations, or a previous Chief of Staff role in high-growth startups.

  • Proven ability to manage complex, cross-functional projects with minimal direction and significant accountability.

  • Strong critical thinking, strategic planning, and executive-level communication skills.

  • Experience working directly with C-level executives/founders and handling high-stakes, sensitive work.

  • Maturity, discretion, and sound judgment - especially when navigating sensitive or high-pressure situations.

  • Bonus: Background in fintech, digital platforms, or founder-led companies.

  • Must be based in Malaysia and able to work from our HQ in Petaling Jaya as required.

Why Join Us

  • A high-trust role with direct access to the founder and executive decision-making.

  • Above-market compensation for top-tier performance.

  • Fast-track opportunity to grow into senior leadership roles (e.g., GM, COO, or operational leadership).

  • Join a flat, no-politics team that values clarity, speed, and relentless ownership, focused on making financial services accessible.

Our customers in ASEAN often face challenges in accessing affordable and sustainable financial services, which is why we are dedicated to developing innovative platforms and services to address these needs. Headquartered in Malaysia, Bjak has become the largest insurance portal in Southeast Asia. Our primary platform, Bjak.com, empowers millions of users to find insurance policies that offer the best value and the most comprehensive coverage tailored to their individual requirements. We understand that navigating the complexities of insurance can be daunting, so we've invested heavily in technology like Custom APIs, blockchain, trading systems, and data science. These investments enable us to provide easy access to financial services that were previously inaccessible or difficult to understand, simplifying the entire process for our users.

Our core strength lies in our ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and create pioneering products. For example, Bjak is the first platform globally to simplify and digitize comprehensive life and medical insurance, supported by an AI agent, making these crucial services more approachable. We help Malaysian vehicle owners save significantly on their annual car insurance renewals by allowing them to compare offers from over 10 insurance and takaful operators in under five minutes. This commitment to customer savings and convenience has resulted in millions of users signing up and benefiting from our services. We strive to continuously improve our platform to simplify the online insurance purchase experience, allowing users to choose, compare, and customize their insurance products swiftly and efficiently. Our mission is to make insurance easy, accessible, and rewarding for everyone, fostering a shared and open ecosystem that promotes equality and security in financial services.
