Position Overview

The Database Architect will serve as the subject matter expert for databases within ACS. They will proactively form and drive a council consisting of database experts and interested parties from across ACS and take personal responsibility for ensuring organizational readiness to deliver high quality database-backed services. They will also work with our infrastructure engineering teams to automate and deploy standards across the database fleet.

You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager, AEC Construction and will work remotely based in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously assess our broad database readiness/needs

  • Identify significant risks/gaps

  • Charter tactical and strategicsolutions for ourDB platform teamto execute

  • Introduce improvements in key areas including

    • Proactive capacity management

    • Monitoring/alerting

    • Tuning/pruning

    • Sharding

    • Migrations

    • Schema and query optimization

    • Deadlock resolution

    • Load optimization

    • DB performance

    • Data replication management for reporting

  • Create and evangelize/institutionalize general best practices and health models

  • Utilize industry standard observability tooling and AWS automation to implement standards across a fleet of databases

  • Form a high-impactcouncil of experts from across ACS to leverage as champions

  • Provide directconsultingwith individual teams as well as COE leads on readiness/risks

  • Select/curate appropriate broad training opportunities for ACS Engineering in database technologies/management

  • Provide tactical support in the case of true emergencies

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 8 years experience in database architecture and dataplane for enterprise SaaS platform at scale

  • Minimum of 8 years of Postgres experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with cloud data technologies

  • Minimum of 5 years experience with NoSQL cloud based architectures

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills to share your expertise and influence positive outcomes

  • Affréter des solutions tactiques et stratégiques pour que notre équipe de plateforme de base de données les exécute

  • Introduire des améliorations dans des domaines clés, notamment :

- Surveiller/alerter

- Fragmenter

- Migrer

- Optimiser les schémas et les requêtes

  • Utiliser les outils d’observabilité standard du secteur et l’automatisation AWS pour mettre en œuvre des normes sur un parc de bases de données

  • Former un conseil d’experts à fort impact de l’ensemble de l’ACS pour en tirer parti en tant que champions

  • Fournir des conseils directs avec les équipes individuelles ainsi qu’avec les responsables des centres d’excellence sur l’état de préparation et les risques

Exigences minimales

Salary transparency

Salary is one part of Autodesk’s competitive compensation package. For Canada-BC based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $131,000 and $191,400. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range. In addition to base salaries, our compensation package may include annual cash bonuses, commissions for sales roles, stock grants, and a comprehensive benefits package.
