Join our team as Area Group Sales Manager for our four hotels in Mexico: Etéreo in Riviera Maya, Chileno Bay Resort and Esperanza Resort in Los Cabos and Susurros del Corazon in Punta de Mita and Hacienda Altagracia, Costa Rica, to target meeting planners, corporate SME accounts, inbound (DMC) and agencies within the designated territory for Auberge Latin America.

Job Description

The Area Group Sales Manager will develop and maintain relationships with key clients to produce business, including room sales, and catering/banquet sales. Primary responsibilities are to make regular outside sales calls to current and future clients, booking business for overnight room blocks, meetings, incentives and events.

This position is critical to the success of the hotels and requires an individual who is naturally at ease with people, can think quickly on their feet and is determined to succeed. This position will be heavily focused on prospecting for new business to achieve and exceed monthly revenue targets. The ideal candidate should come with a book of business contacts and proven track record in selling luxury resorts. The position will have a heavy focus on group business, especially during need periods, for Eteréo and Susurros del Corazón.

Core Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  • Respond to the solicitation for RFPs.
  • Demonstrate an effective ability to prospect for new accounts that have been pre-qualified to meet the hotel’s room rate structure.
  • Identify local accounts from all market segments that have previously utilized the hotels and solicit for future business.
  • Handle all group leads that contact the hotels directly from assigned territory.
  • Acquire and maintain a solid base of accounts towards achieving the property’s budgeted profit levels.
  • Solicit sales for the property through planned, personal calls and telephone solicitations to local trade and professional associations/corporations, travel agents, and other local and state organizations that could result in potential business for the hotels.
  • Handle and respond promptly to sales leads providing appropriate information.
  • Maintain contact with all clients in assigned territory to ensure high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the competitive landscape.
  • Participate in all FAM trips taking place from assigned territory.
  • Work closely with territory Global Sales Director to educate and collaborate on booking business for the resorts.
  • Take initiative to develop new strategies and uncover new markets to generate sales.
  • Manage precise handling of all account details, sales notes, contracts and information.
  • Target accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.
  • Arrange and conduct special events, site inspections, and off-site presentations for potential clients.
  • Provide operations staff up-to-the-minute information regarding specific accounts.
  • Create a sales action plan to achieve targeted goals,
  • Submit weekly sales reports to direct supervisor.
  • Work closely with the Sales and revenue teams to collaborate and confirm the best business possible.
  • Collaborate in managing coordinators.

Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in hospitality group sales
  • Experience selling International Resort Destinations is a plus
  • Experience working remotely and in a home-office environment
  • Deep industry connections within the potential group contacts in the Northeast territory
  • Computer literate in relevant computer applications
  • University/College degree in a related discipline
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities
  • Working knowledge of the Spanish language is a plus

Travel Requirements

  • Travel domestically and internationally to promote resorts to group clients, at tradeshows and to the resorts.
  • Travel to resorts as requested for sites, meetings and travel professional related FAMs.
  • Travel for internal sales meetings 1-2 times annually.
