I built Iris, a photo library that runs entirely on your own machine. You can search your photos by just describing them - "dog on a beach," "that dinner in November" - and it automatically groups pictures by the people in them, without you tagging anyone. Nothing gets uploaded anywhere. The hard part was making it fast enough to feel instant on a normal laptop: searches come back in under 8 milliseconds, results match what an exhaustive scan would find, and importing runs at 115 photos a second while surviving interruptions without losing work.
I built a tool that helps loan reviewers decide on applications. It scores how likely an applicant is to default, then shows exactly which factors pushed the score up or down - income, credit history, existing debt - so the reviewer sees the reasoning rather than a number from a black box. There's also a what-if mode for testing how a change to any single factor would move the outcome. The model gets it right about 80% of the time on data it hasn't seen, and every decision comes with a written trail of what drove it.
