Tamira McCurdy

I’m a Child Advocate Social Worker with a strong background in community outreach and a passion for advocating for children and families. In my current role, I provide direct support through case management, resource coordination, and trauma-informed care.

At the Defender Association of Philadelphia, I advocate for children’s welfare by collaborating with the legal team to ensure comprehensive support and improved outcomes for vulnerable clients. I assess family environments, identify risk factors for targeted interventions, and maintain meticulous records to support effective case management and regulatory compliance.

Previously, as a Community Outreach Coordinator, I led community engagement initiatives and built partnerships with local organizations to enhance access to legal resources and support services. I developed outreach programs connecting underserved communities with legal advocacy services and educational workshops, and I also supported reentry through reentry case management and coordinated services across agencies and healthcare professionals.

Earlier experience as a Rehab Aide strengthened my ability to support recovery through tailored patient exercises, equipment setup and maintenance, and clear communication with medical staff. I hold an education background in Exercise Science and Sport Psychology, and I’m also pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health—always grounding my work in empowerment, trust, and measurable, lasting change.
