Shantanu Saha
@shantanusaha
I engineer quantum defects in wide-bandgap semiconductors for quantum photonics and sensing.
What I'm looking for
At GITAM University, Hyderabad, I lead DST-supported quantum-sensing research and investigate quantum emission from color centers in 2D materials. I serve as Associate Professor, MURTI Fellow, and Chair of the Centre for Semiconductor and Quantum Technologies.
I develop and characterize defect centers in hexagonal boron nitride for quantum photonics, using focused ion-beam implantation, rapid thermal annealing, spectroscopy, microscopy, and nanoindentation. My work includes ongoing PI-led projects on deterministic negatively charged boron vacancies and defect centres in h-BN.
Previously, at The Ohio State University, I led h-BN and c-BN research, process-engineering experiments, and proposals for quantum materials. I collaborated with the Air Force Research Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Naval Research Laboratory, NIMS, Rice University, IIT Bombay, and industry partner Quanastra.
I also teach semiconductor devices, analog electronics, microelectronics, and related courses while supervising B.Tech, M.Tech, and PhD research. My research spans ion implantation, semiconductor growth, thin films, quantum materials, and optical and structural characterization.
