Shail Pujan
@shailpujan
Software engineer focused on distributed systems, database reliability, and low-latency real-time applications.
What I'm looking for
I’m a software engineer building and validating distributed systems—especially where reliability and failure recovery matter. Through open source mentorship and hands-on projects, I’ve worked on production-scale distributed SQL and storage concepts while strengthening my debugging and testing discipline.
In the LFX Mentorship Program (CNCF), I contributed to Vitess by debugging replication inconsistencies and authoring test cases aligned to production failure scenarios. I developed SQL-based debugging examples and shell scripts for troubleshooting query performance bottlenecks and sharding recovery, then participated in code reviews to resolve Vitess issues that improved reliability and strengthened debugging workflows.
I also contribute to real-world messaging reliability as an Ushahidi contributor, leading black-box testing for messaging workflows and implementing Cypress to accelerate testing and improve uptime. On my own, I build distributed infrastructure—like VaultFS, a Go-based distributed KV store with WAL persistence, failover, Kafka replication events, and Prometheus visibility—while delivering product-grade engineering in Codexphere, a collaborative code editor optimized for low-latency multi-user interaction.

Sep 2024 - Nov 2024 (2 months)
Selected for the LFX Mentorship Program to contribute to CNCF’s Vitess project, gaining hands-on exposure to reliability engineering at cloud infrastructure scale. Debugged replication inconsistencies in Vitess clusters and authored SQL/shell debugging examples and test cases aligned to production failure scenarios.
Open source contributor focused on messaging workflows. Led black-box testing with 98% success in bug identification, implemented Cypress-based testing, and helped ensure messaging integrity including multimedia sharing and payment processing (99.9% uptime).
