What I'm looking for

I’m looking for a customer-facing role where I can combine my experience in optical retail and hospitality with strong problem solving, leadership, and admin skills—working with a team that values empathy, communication, and continuous learning.

I’m a driven professional who enjoys pushing myself in new areas both in my professional and personal life. I love to learn new skills, and I’m proud of my experience in customer service, hospitality, and people skills, both in leadership and as part of a team.

In my current role as an Optical Assistant at Specsavers-Ross-on-Wye, I’ve completely learnt a new industry while strengthening my customer support every day. Assisting more vulnerable people has helped me develop patience and empathy, alongside daily administration, cash handling, and the confidence to solve problems quickly.

I work across the core optical assistant tasks—ordering and measuring tailored lenses, advising customers on frame and lens options best suited for them, and handling sensitive information. I also teach new contact lens patients how to safely handle and apply contact lenses, so customers leave feeling informed and confident.

Before this, I led teams and delivered great customer experiences as Team leader at The hope and anchor, focusing on problem solving, events management, organizing, resident check-ins, and clear communication between departments. Earlier experience as a barista and senior team member at hospitality venues built my service standards, including food preparation, serving and bartending, and leading the waitressing team. I hold a Business (BTEC level 3 extended diploma), and I’m currently trained in Fire Marshall and First Aid, with cellar management experience.
