At the University of Florida, I trained more than 1,000 learners in AI literacy, machine learning, and Java, achieving a 40% pre/post learning gain.
I co-designed a K-12 programming foundations course for in-service teachers, then taught it as the primary instructor. I developed linked assignment versions for different skill levels and used a Use-Modify-Create progression to support novices as they moved toward independent work.
I also designed year-long AI literacy professional development for middle school teachers, where they explored AI tools and examined their classroom data. I built diagnostic assessments and surveys to identify skill gaps, then revised course content using the results and learner feedback.
My research includes developing a diagnostic tool for programming misconceptions and validating a self-efficacy instrument for undergraduate CS2 students. I’ve published and presented work in computer science education, AI literacy, and learning assessment at ACM SIGCSE, AERA, and AECT.
