Patrick Higgins

I've provided school-based counseling, risk assessment, and case management at A.A. Stagg High School, supporting adolescents with diverse learning, behavioral, and emotional needs. I partner with families, educators, and outside therapists to advance IEP-aligned goals and continuity of care.

At Advocate Christ Medical Center, I conducted more than 320 biopsychosocial assessments for patients ages 13 to 90+, evaluating substance use, co-occurring mental health needs, and psychosocial functioning. I used ASAM criteria to inform level-of-care recommendations and connect patients with behavioral health and addiction treatment services.

My background also includes six years teaching physics, chemistry, biology, and environmental science at Curie Metropolitan High School. I developed engaging curriculum, trained teachers, and collaborated with special education staff to make learning accessible for diverse students.

I'm a Licensed Social Worker and Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor who uses CBT, DBT, and ACT-informed interventions to build emotional regulation, resilience, and independence.
