Omar Gamal

I’m a Computer and Systems Engineering graduate with Honors who brings hands-on experience in AI/ML, Computer Vision, and Data Engineering through internships and the NTI HireReady Big Data Track. I focus on turning data into reliable, measurable ML outcomes through strong ML pipelines and careful model evaluation.

In my internship at SchneiderElectric, I worked in an Agile environment on computer vision and AI research across multiple sprints. I labeled and prepared P&ID images with Roboflow, selected and configured a YOLOv8 model (including model-size variants), and trained it to detect motors, valves, tanks, and DCS symbols with improved detection performance compared to peer models.

I’ve also built end-to-end projects like a HeartDiseasePrediction & Analysis ML pipeline (feature selection, PCA, supervised + unsupervised learning, and hyperparameter tuning) and a COVID-19 outcome prediction workflow using cross-validation and ROC-AUC evaluation. Alongside that, I designed a relational RestaurantManagementDatabaseSystem and I’m eager to apply these skills in an AI/ML or data-focused role to deliver scalable, impactful solutions.
