Tarik Walker
@tarikwalker
I lead health disparities, HIV, and pulmonary genetics research programs.
What I'm looking for
At the University of Colorado School of Medicine, I lead bioengineering research focused on reducing health disparities and advancing pulmonary genetics. I also serve as Co-Principal Investigator for the NIH-funded ESTEEMED Scholars Program in Bioengineering.
My work has included HIV rapid testing in emergency departments, mobile health tools for HIV education and testing, and community-based research on healthcare bias and prevention. I have contributed to the Colorado Anschutz IPF Biobank, which includes more than 9,000 global samples, and co-led the IPF Global Collaborative Network.
Previously, I directed Health Disparities & Strategic Initiatives at El Paso County Public Health and led the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation program at Community College of Aurora.
I bring clinical, public health, and research training to projects spanning infectious disease, cancer survivorship, STEM pipeline development, and community partnership building.
