What I'm looking for

I am looking to become part of a bioinformatics team where I can contribute on a broad range of exciting biomedical research projects while continue to grow as a bioinformatician, all in a goal-driven and fast-paced international environment that at the same time supports a healthy work-life balance. Currently looking for fully-remote opportunities only.

I have expertise in handling diverse high-throughput datasets and providing custom bioinformatics analyses, which have ranged from bulk and single-cell RNA-seq to bulk DNA-seq (WGS, WES and panel data), with particular focus on somatic and germline variant calling, clinical annotation, variant interpretation, and in-silico drug prediction. In addition, I have vast experience developing, testing, benchmarking and maintaining a broad range of softwares and pipelines, which have allowed me to gather strong programming skills in Python and R, alongside great knowledge of Snakemake, Git, conda and bash. Further, I am familiar with a broad variety of open-source bioinformatics tools and resources (e.g. BWA, GATK, ClinVar, gnomAD, among many others), secure HPC environments, LSF and JIRA. Last, I have a demonstrated track record of displaying analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as a high ability to effectively communicate and teamwork, both on site and remotely. I am self-motivated and a fast learner, with special attention to detail and a high sense of responsibility, and able to handle tasks and communication proactively and independently without the need for close supervision.

In my previous role, I successfully developed critical software and key analysis pipelines which are currently in use and serve as a backbone for multiple projects. Moreover, I obtained excellent performance reviews in every annual appraisal talk, and received the largest year-end bonus two years in a row as a recognition of my hard work, dedication and outstanding performance. As a result, I was offered a permanent contract only after two years of being hired.

I am currently looking for fully-remote roles as a Clinical Bioinformatician (or related).
