At Illinois State University, I taught ENG 101 online and later ENG 125 (Literary Narrative) online for the first time at ISU. I also worked as a Writing Specialist at the Julia N. Visor Academic Center.
Since 2018, I've worked in online teaching while working on my memoir. My teaching has included writing instruction, assessment, lesson planning, and feedback for students.
I published Fireflies in the Dark, a memoir, in 2016. My creative and scholarly writing also includes Firefly Song, my doctoral dissertation, and work published in literary anthologies and journals.
I hold a Ph.D. in English Studies (Creative Writing Track) from Illinois State University. My areas of study and teaching include creative nonfiction, English literature, performance studies, and trauma theory.
