Kyle Docherty

I’m an Operational Performance Manager with responsibility for managing operational performance across Emergency Medicine within a large acute teaching hospital. I lead a team of Patient Trackers and work alongside senior nurses, clinicians and managers to improve patient flow, workforce utilisation and service performance.

I’ve successfully led operational change projects, including workforce redesign and service improvement initiatives, while maintaining a strong focus on staff engagement, collaboration and delivering high-quality patient care. I also lead operational response during periods of extreme demand and support delivery of NHS performance standards.

In my current role, I hold trust-wide oversight of all Emergency Departments, with a primary operational focus on the Children’s Emergency Department (CED). I provide line management for the Group Trackers workforce (23 staff) and lead day-to-day operational performance, patient flow, escalation and service resilience across urgent and emergency care pathways.

Previously, as Medical Staffing Manager, I led operational medical workforce planning across the Medicine Group and improved rota services through training and continuous improvement. Earlier experience included administrative leadership and customer trading management, strengthening how I plan resources, analyse data, and deliver efficient, people-focused operations.
