What I'm looking for

I’m looking to teach again in the language field with a remote work preference. I want a role where I’m not “regimented,” and where I can tailor lessons, use humor for memorization, and connect across cultures.

I’ve taught and tutored ESL for 13 years in the U.S. and 4 nations in Asia (Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and the PRC/Mainland China). I focus on conversational English, while still covering “a little grammar” when needed.

I also have the experience to instruct English speakers in Japanese, Mandarin, and Korean. I’m “not fluent,” but I’m a resourceful educator for spoken communication, and a guide for the beginnings of written reading/writing with Kanji, Kana, and Hangul.

I build lessons to fit all sorts of students, and I’m a strong improviser—“flexible, in tailoring of lessons” for different needs. I’ve produced and used PowerPoint presentations as teaching aids, and I’m known for mixing humor into my delivery to enhance memorization.

I’ve taught across age groups, from nursery school to middle, high, college, and adults and business students. After my return from China, I’ve worked outside the language field, and now I’m ready to teach again with a remote work preference rather than a regimented employee approach.
