Igbokwe Laurence

I'm Laurence Igbokwe, a Lagos-based backend engineer with ~8 years of hands-on experience and the founder of Keonix Systems, a small engineering practice I run alongside contract work.

My career has mostly been in the unglamorous middle of the stack — the part where business logic meets infrastructure and things go wrong in ways no tutorial prepared you for. I've built fintech APIs handling payment settlements across Nigerian rails (NIP, Interswitch, NIBSS), maintained multi-platform mobile + PWA products on Supabase and Node.js, and more recently wired data pipelines end-to-end: Kafka → PySpark → dbt → ClickHouse, running inside a 6 GB local environment because that's what I had.

That last part is a fair summary of how I work. I don't wait for the right cluster or the right budget. I learn what the tools actually cost, constrain them to what I have, and ship something that holds up when you look at the internals.

Stack I reach for: Node.js / TypeScript, Python, PHP/Laravel, Supabase, Redis, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, ClickHouse, Cloudflare Workers. Increasingly Python-heavy as I move deeper into data and AI infrastructure.

What I'm looking for: Remote backend, data engineering, or AI infrastructure roles where the work is technically real — ideally with a team that values understanding over speed. UTC+1, comfortable with European and North American overlap hours.
